THE MISSING PIECE MOVEMENT

We're changing the way the world helps kids.

For decades, parents and teachers have been handed everything except the one thing that actually works for the kids who struggle the most. I teach the missing piece. And once you see it, you'll never see a struggling kid the same way again. Not yours. Not anyone's.

Get this right, and we don't just change one kid's story. We change what the next generation grows up believing about themselves.

Join the Movement

We've spent decades trying to fix the kids who struggle the most.

You know the ones I'm talking about. By the time they make their way to my office, everyone's at their wits end with them.

Parents hear "more consequences, more structure, be more firm, be more consistent, give choices, validate their feelings, but don't be soft."

Rinse. Repeat.

And for some kids, those things are enough to help course-correct. But for the ones who struggle the most? All of that is just a band-aid. It doesn't actually work. Not in any home, any school, any therapist's office.

And the experts are still pushing it. Why? Because they don't understand the missing piece.

I'm going to tell you what that missing piece is. And you'll never see behavior the same way again.

You are not failing. Your kid is not broken.

You've just been missing the one thing that finally makes all of it make sense.

It's not just your house. It's not just your classroom. It's everywhere.

More kids are struggling than ever. More parents are exhausted than ever. More teachers are leaving than ever. And everyone's pointing at everyone else.

Here's what nobody's saying out loud: the helpers were set up to fail.

Parents got the graveyard of half-read parenting books. The sticker charts. The portal police shift nobody signed up for. Teachers got the clip charts, the behavior plans, the "have you tried a reward system?" from people who've never met the kid.

Everyone got a map with half the roads missing. Then everyone got blamed when they ended up lost.

The kids who struggle the most aren't surrounded by adults who don't care. They're surrounded by adults who care so much it keeps them up at night. The problem was never the caring. The problem is that everyone doing the caring was handed tools built for a kid that isn't theirs.

That's not a you problem. That's a missing piece problem. And it's fixable.

This isn't a belief system. It's what the research has said all along.

I'm not asking you to take anything on faith. Everybody thinks their parenting philosophy is the right one. That's the problem with philosophies.

Here's what we actually have: over half a century of good research on how kids develop, what drives behavior, and what actually helps the kids who struggle the most. And it's remarkably consistent. Kids aren't giving us a hard time. They're having a hard time.

Behavior is information.

Struggling kids are missing capacities, not character. The science has been saying it for decades.

You know what we don't have good science for?

The idea that kids wake up and decide to be defiant. That they lie because they're manipulative. That they'd stop struggling if they just tried harder, cared more, or got consequenced better.

That story was never research. It was repetition. Say something for enough generations and it starts to sound like truth.

So this movement isn't another expert opinion joining the pile. It's the evidence, finally making it out of the journals and into your kitchen. And once you see it, you can't unsee it.

That's the point.

Don't take my word for it. Dig into the research.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT.

It starts with the words.

Before the course, before the masterclass, before anything: the movement runs on language. The words that stop a label in its tracks. Here's your starter set, free.

Lazy. Defiant. Unmotived.

Word-for-word scripts for the moments everyone's looking at you like you should have this figured out, and you have no idea what to say.

What's inside:

The reframe language that changes how you talk about your kid, starting with how you talk to yourself. Exact scripts to respond to emails from the teacher, embarrassing moments in public, the exact words for family pushback, holiday tables included, and for the school meeting where they tell you his grades are fine and he doesn't need help--and many more!

Yes, they even work on grandparents who think you just need to discipline more.

Same missing piece.

Two ways in.

You love a kid who's struggling. Start here.

This is for you whether your kid is six or sixteen. The missing piece doesn't have an age limit. The battles just change costumes: the meltdown over shoes becomes the slammed bedroom door, the dinner table refusal becomes the assignment that vanished into thin air. Different age, same story underneath. You've read the books. You've tried the consequences and the charts and the deep breaths. You're not out of love. You're out of map.

So, where are you standing right now?

My kid is a teen, and I'm running out of time.
My kid is still little, and I want to get this right now.

I've been in the room where this advice gets written. That's how I know it's wrong.

I'm Katie Greenleaf. Therapist, behavior consultant, executive function specialist. I've spent 20 years sitting with the kids everyone else had run out of ideas for, and the parents and teachers who loved them anyway.

I've watched brilliant, devoted adults follow every piece of expert advice and end up further from their kid than when they started. Not because they did it wrong. Because the advice was wrong.

And I haven't just watched it. I've lived it, all the way down to carrying my own screaming kid out of a store.

So I stopped teaching the map everyone else was handing out and started teaching the one that matches how these kids actually work. It changed my clients' lives. It changed classrooms. It changed my own life.

Now it's a movement. And there's room for you in it.

Why I do this

I don't do this work because I studied it, though I did. I do it because I lived it from both sides: the kid whose inner world nobody could reach, and the mother who refused to let her child feel that same way.

The most powerful thing I can do for a child isn't to fix the child. It's to help their parent finally understand them. Because when a mom truly sees her kid, beneath the behavior, the eye-rolling, the failing grades, the slammed door, everything changes. That mom becomes the person her child can come to. That kid becomes someone who knows they're worth coming home to.

That's the whole thing. That's what I was put here to do.

So if you're the mom reading this with a kid you love desperately and cannot figure out, hear me: this was never about you not loving them enough. You were handed the wrong map. I'd like to give you the right one.

The Missing Piece: Ditch the Parenting Noise, Start Getting Results.

Every kid who gets written off learns a story about who they are. They carry it into adulthood. They hand it to their own kids. But it works the other way too.

Every kid who finally gets understood learns a different story. That's the one they carry. That's the one they pass down.

That's what's actually at stake here. Not a quieter dinner table. Not a better report card. A generation of kids who grow up knowing someone saw them.

The missing piece is how we get there. Come see it for yourself.
